Efficient unloading of silos with our pulsating cylinders
Welgro is a Dutch manufacturer based in Groenlo that specialises in developing and building bulk trucks and trailers for animal feed, flour, grains and other powdered products. The company delivers around 120 vehicles annually to customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and is known for its customisation, reliability and innovation.
Challenge
Welgro, a supplier of bulk trucks for transporting animal feed, was looking for a reliable way to smoothly empty silo compartments in lorries. It was important that the feed flowed continuously and evenly, and that the cylinders were easy to clean.
Our solution
We developed a double-acting, unbuffered cylinder (bore 125 mm, stroke 150 mm) as a closing unit for the silo compartments. The racket-like design (a combination of funnel shape and double integrated cylinder tubes) allows the cylinder to pulsate during emptying, ensuring that the feed flows evenly and does not get stuck. We also developed a version with a sensor that indicates the opening position of the silo cylinder. The cylinder is easy to clean, and the fatty component in the animal feed forms a natural protective layer against corrosion.
Result
Thanks to our cylinders, emptying is fully controlled, smooth and without hiccups. The feed flows continuously and evenly, the process remains reliable regardless of the type of feed or the experience of the drivers, and the cylinders are reliable and durable.
